The Appellation d'Origine Contrôlée (AOC) Canon Fronsac is a French red wine produced in the vineyards of Bordeaux, Gironde. It is located southwest of the Fronsac appellation, in the commune of Fronsac.
The Canon Fronsac vineyard covers an area of 1,200 hectares, of which 800 hectares are planted with vines. The soils are composed of gravel and clay, and the vines have a south-west exposure.
The grape varieties authorized for AOC Canon Fronsac are Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. Cabernet franc is the dominant grape variety, with an average proportion of 50%. Cabernet Sauvignon represents around 40% of the vineyard, and Merlot around 10%.
The wines of AOC Canon Fronsac are made from Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot.
AOC Canon Fronsac wines are red wines for laying down. They are characterized by their intense ruby color, their aromas of red and black fruits, and their tannic structure.
