AOP Alsace Riesling

In this section, you'll find a selection of top-flight organic Riesling. We offer wines from Domaine Paul Ginglinger, Etienne Loew and as well as those from Domaine Trapet in Alsace.

The AOP Alsace Riesling is a wine appellation located in the Alsace wine region in northeastern France. This appellation is specifically dedicated to the Riesling grape, a noble white variety that has found Alsace a terroir conducive to its flourishing.

The Alsace vineyards benefit from a unique terroir made up of granite, limestone, marl and clay soils, offering great diversity. Alsace's semi-continental climate, with hot summers and dry autumns, is ideal for slow, complete ripening of the grapes.

Riesling is Alsace's emblematic grape variety. It is characterized by its intense aroma, liveliness and ability to reflect the terroir. Alsace Riesling wines are renowned for their aromatic purity, floral, citrus and peach notes, as well as their distinctive minerality.

The vinification of Alsace Rieslings is often focused on preserving the purity of the fruit. Fermentation generally takes place in stainless steel tanks to maintain the freshness of the aromas. Some producers may also opt for oak barrels to add a touch of complexity.

Dry (tender): Most Alsatian Rieslings are vinified dry, highlighting the grape variety's lively acidity and the terroir's minerality.

Secs (soft).

Demi-secs: Some producers make slightly off-dry Rieslings, offering a subtle balance between sweetness and acidity.

Vendanges tardives and Sélection de Grains Nobles: These richer cuvées are made from grapes harvested at advanced maturity, offering aromas of candied fruit and honey.

Alsatian Rieslings pair well with a variety of dishes, especially seafood, Asian dishes, poultry-based dishes, and hard cheeses.

Alsatian Rieslings, especially those from late harvest and noble grain selections, have excellent aging potential. They can evolve favorably in the cellar for many years, developing complex aromas and a harmonious texture.

Domaine Paul Ginglinger Alsace Riesling - Riesling Drei exa 2023

The cuvée Drei Exa from Domaine Ginglinger refers to its village of origin, Eguisheim (Exa) and the three castles overlooking the village. Riesling Drei Exa is a blend of very fine, predominantly limestone-sandstone parcels adjoining Grand Cru Pfersigberg in the Wettolsheimerweg, Dreistein and Sundgass districts. This dry Riesling is characterized above all by its finesse and elegance. The bouquet offers a delicate fruitiness that asserts itself with age. The balance on the palate is long-lined, characteristic of great terroirs with predominantly limestone.

RVF: "Drei Exa is a fine reference for lovers of dry Riesling"

Domaine Paul Ginglinger Alsace Riesling - Riesling Grand Cru Pfersigberg 2021

This Grand Cru Pfersigberg from domaine Paul Ginglinger is a great gourmet wine. Here, Riesling wines take on an assertive character, a blend of fruity expressiveness and elegant structure. In fact, the magic works, between the airy, delicate quality conferred by the thin, fine-textured soils, and the rich underlying constitution provided by the hard Muschelkalk limestone that is present in the form of pebbles on the surface as well as at depth
