The Appellation d'Origine Protégée (AOP) Ajaccio is a flagship of Corsican viticulture, renowned for its wines of excellence that reflect the rich terroir of the island of beauty. With a centuries-old winegrowing history and a growing commitment to organic farming, Ajaccio PDO stands out for its quality and unique character.

The Ajaccio PDO terroir stretches across the mountainous slopes of the island of Corsica, benefiting from a Mediterranean climate conducive to vine-growing. The varied soils, ranging from schist to clay, granite and sandstone, give the wines great aromatic diversity and remarkable complexity. Local grape varieties, such as Sciaccarellu, Niellucciu and Vermentinu, find an exceptional terroir here to fully express themselves.

The Ajaccio PDO bears witness to a growing commitment to organic farming, with many wineries choosing to convert their cultivation practices. Of the appellation's 1,600 hectares or so of vineyards, a significant proportion is now cultivated according to organic farming principles, guaranteeing the preservation of the environment and the quality of products.

In terms of production, the Ajaccio PDO produces around 12,000 hectolitres of wine a year, divided between red, rosé and white. Red wines account for the bulk of production, with almost 70% of the vineyard area devoted to this type of wine. Rosés and whites complete the offer, offering a diversity of styles and flavors that appeal to wine lovers the world over.

Ajaccio PDO wines stand out for their quality and unique character, reflecting the richness of the terroir and the expertise of the winemakers. The red wines, made from grape varieties such as Sciaccarellu and Niellucciu, offer aromas of red fruits, spices and garrigue, with silky tannins and a beautiful structure on the palate. The rosés, light and fruity, seduce with their freshness and vivacity, while the whites, made from Vermentinu, reveal aromas of citrus, white flowers and exotic fruit.
