Château Canon la Gaffelière
Chateau Canon La Gaffelière is a Bordeaux red wine located in the Saint-Émilion appellation, classified Premier Grand Cru Classé B in the Saint-Émilion Wine Classification. The estate is located in the Bordeaux wine region on the right bank of France, in the commune of Saint-Émilion, in the Gironde department.
.The history of the estate dates back to the Middle Ages, when the château and vineyards belonged to the des Canons family. In 1870, the estate was bought by the de La Gaffelière family, who gave it its current name. In 1971, the estate was bought by Count Joseph-Hubert von Neipperg, who turned it into one of Saint-Émilion's largest estates.
The Château Canon La Gaffelière vineyard covers 19.5 hectares and is planted with Merlot (55%), Cabernet Franc (40%) and Cabernet Sauvignon (5%). The vines are grown organically, and the wines are vinified in concrete and wooden vats.
The wines of Château Canon La Gaffelière are renowned for their quality and complexity. They are generally characterized by a dark ruby color, aromas of red and black fruits, vanilla and cedar, and a long finish.
