AOC Côtes de Castillon
The appellation d'origine contrôlée (AOC) Côtes de Bordeaux Castillon is a French wine appellation located in the Gironde department, in the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region. It is located in the Bordeaux vineyards, on the right bank of the Garonne, very close to the AOP Saint-Emilion.
The appellation was created in 2009, following the merger of the Côtes de Castillon and Côtes de Francs appellations. It covers an area of 3,000 hectares and has around 500 winemakers.
Côtes de Bordeaux Castillon appellation wines are red wines produced from Merlot (minimum 50%), Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc.
Many terroirs are exceptional and excellent value for money is plentiful, such as the organic wines from Clos Puy Arnaud or Chateau La Brande.
