The terroir of Var PGI wines is remarkably diverse, offering a multitude of soils, exposures and microclimates that give the wines a singular identity. From the limestone hills of the Massif des Maures to the alluvial plains of the Var plain, via the clay-limestone hillsides of the Haut-Var, each vineyard parcel reveals a unique expression, reflecting the richness and variety of the Var terroir.
More and more growers of Var PGI wines are turning to environmentally-friendly growing practices, such as organic farming or viticulture raisonnée. By limiting the use of pesticides and chemical fertilizers, they are helping to preserve soil biodiversity and protect the local ecosystem, while guaranteeing the quality and authenticity of their products.
The Var is one of the world's leading wine-producing regions.
