Nicolas Grosbois Estate

The Nicolas Grosbois estate in a few words

The domaine Nicolas Grosbois is asserting itself as a sure bet in Chinon: it offers a range of organic wines of fine quality.

The Domaine Nicolas Grosbois, located in the heart of the Chinon appellation, embodies the revival of great Loire wines. Since taking over the family estate, Nicolas Grosbois has established himself as one of the region's most talented and innovative winemakers, putting forward an approach that respects terroir and biodiversity.

With organic viticulture and low-intervention winemaking, Domaine Nicolas Grosbois wines express all the finesse and richness of the clay-limestone and sandy soils that make up the appellation. Each cuvée is designed to reflect the full potential of Cabernet Franc, Chinon's emblematic grape variety, offering precise, elegant and vibrant wines.

.

The Domaine Nicolas Grosbois extends over 20 hectares of vines, situated on well-exposed slopes, favoring optimal ripening of the grapes. This exceptional terroir produces wines with a beautiful tannic structure and remarkable natural freshness.

The Chinon appellation benefits from a temperate oceanic climate, with a continental influence marked by hot summers and mild winters. This ideal situation enables Cabernet Franc to reach perfect ripeness while maintaining balanced acidity. The estate's soils are diverse, combining clay, limestone and sand. The clay-limestone terroirs give the wines structure and great ageing potential, while the sandy soils give rise to softer, fruitier wines that are accessible from their youth.

.

The estate follows an organic viticulture philosophy, favoring practices that respect living organisms. No use of pesticides or chemical fertilizers is practiced, in order to preserve the richness of the soil and biodiversity.

We particularly appreciate our organic viticulture.

We particularly appreciate the cuvée "La cuisine de ma mère", supple, fruity and airy, a fine representative of Loire wines. La cousine de la mère is a vin de négoce that was initiated during the 2016 frosts. This wine is made from grapes grown in the Southwest of France: it has an easy-drinking, spicy profile. A lovely buddy wine.

Extra-ball is a juicy Chinon, full of frankness and easy to marry.

Guide des meilleurs vins de France 2020 on Domaine Nicolas Grosbois: "The gentle, homogeneous slopes of the Panzoult commune are composed mostly of millarge, yellow Quartzian sands on which Cabernet Franc produces chinons that are less tannic than on clay-limestone. "This sunny terroir needs to be dramatized," explains Nicolas Grosbois, who joined the family domaine in 2008 after ten years as a flying winemaker. From New Zealand and Chile, this thirty-something returned inoculated against wood. He vinifies and ages his reds exclusively in vats. Nicolas Grosbois is also associate manager at Domaine des Hauts Baigneux (Azay-le-Rideau). We award him our first star.
