Le domaine des Closiers is a magnificent 15-hectare estate located in the heart of the Saumur-Champigny appellation! Its name comes from the closiers, the winegrowers who worked in the vineyards and lived in troglodytic dwellings at the foot of the hillside. Le domaine des Closiers began its conversion to organic farming under the guidance of Michel Chevré in 2020.
Anatole de la Brosse took over this estate in 2019 with the ambition of making it one of the appellation's benchmarks. To achieve this, he has selected the best terroirs, worked closely with Nady Foucault of Clos Rougeard, a benchmark winemaker in Saumur-Champigny, and Michel Chevré, renowned for his knowledge of biodynamic viticulture, selected his barrels from the best winemakers (Domaine Leflaive for the whites) and, above all, carried out a ruthless job in the vineyard: organic management, controlled yields, manual harvesting. For this ambitious domaine, the first wines produced this year are already among the best in the appellation. Don't miss them, they're magnificent flasks of haute gastronomie.
