AOC Saumur

The AOP Saumur is a French appellation d'origine contrôlée for wines produced in the Maine-et-Loire department in the Pays de la Loire region. It is located on the banks of the Loire, about 20 kilometers south of Angers. The appellation was created in 1929 and covers an area of 3,000 hectares. It comprises two denominations: Saumur and Saumur-Champigny. The Saumur appellation is located in the Maine-et-Loire department, in the Pays de la Loire region. AOP Saumur wines are characterized by good acidity and a fresh finish. They can be consumed young or aged.
