AOC Touraine

AOC Touraine

Created in 1939 by decree, AOC Touraine is a fairly broad AOC in France, as it covers the departments of Indre-et-Loire and Loir-et-Cher.

The Touraine AOC produces around 1,700 hectolitres per year.

AOC Touraine white wines are made either from Chenin, Sauvignon or Arbois grapes. All are characterized by a lovely freshness on the palate, but, as the terroirs are very dissimilar, it's difficult to be more precise. Taste the Touraines from domaine du Clos Roussely or those from domaine Bonnigal-Bodet to convince yourself of the quality of the wines from this region.

AOC Touraine reds are varied, as they are made from grape varieties that can be quite different: cabernet franc, cabernet-sauvignon, côt, pinot noir, pinot meunier, pinot gris, pineau d'Aunis or gamay. Often fruity and light, with a delicate tannic structure, Touraine red wines are pleasant as aperitifs or with charcuterie.
