Domaine de Bellivière

A few words about Domaine de Bellivière

The Domaine de Bellivière, run by Christine & Éric Nicolas, covers thirteen hectares in both appellations. The parcels, located in five communes, offer the different terroirs that make up the richness and diversity of the domaine's cuvées.

Located forty kilometers north of Tours and the Loire castles, the Jasnières and Coteaux du Loir appellations are ideal settings for the Chenin and Pineau d'Aunis grape varieties.

In white, as in red, the wines of Domaine de Bellivière, worked in organic agriculture, are of unparalleled precision and elegance.

Guide des meilleurs vins de France 2019 about Domaine de Bellivière, a 2-star domaine: "Now seconded by their son Clément, Éric and Christine Nicolas were the first, twenty years ago, to pick up the well-extinguished torch of Sarthe wines with panache. Their cuvées show the full potential of forgotten terroirs. The reasons for their success are the same as elsewhere in France: an elitist viticulture, partly biodynamic, which anticipates the product's notoriety, and simple but scrupulous vinification. The coteaux-du-loir vieilles vignes Eparses produces a compact white with remarkably refined aromas (evolving towards gentian). It's usually kept waiting with L'Effraie (25-year-old vines). Jasnières is aptly named Elixir de Tuf (selection of selections in great years). We should also mention Calligramme (vines over 50 years old), Les Rosiers (young vines) and, since 2009, the new cuvée Prémices. All are limpid expressions of their terroir, and stand out as benchmarks for all connoisseurs of chenin. Solid, pineau d'Aunis reds need a few years to mature."

Les cuvées du domaine de Bellivière

Premices, domaine de Bellivière's first Jasnières cuvée is an affordable wine to discover this AOC in the best possible way. The wine develops notes of grapefruit and mirabelle plum, the whole possessing a beautiful minerality.

Les Rosiers is a blend of young vines from Domaine de Bellivière. It develops notes of peach, sweet spices and sloe. A cuvée to keep for 5-7 years. Domaine de Bellivière recommends it with cockles and clams, but a nice fish (without sauce) will also respond well to it.

Rouge Gorge is a superb pineau d'aunis, fruity and spicy to perfection!
