AOC Cornas

AOC Cornas is a French wine appellation located in the Rhône-Alpes region, on the right bank of the Rhône, some thirty kilometers north of Valence. It is renowned for its dry red wines, made from the Syrah grape variety.

The Cornas vineyard extends over 145 hectares, on steep south-facing slopes. The soils are granitic and schistose, giving the wines a characteristic minerality. The climate is continental, with Mediterranean influences.

Organic farming is booming in the Cornas AOC. By 2023, around 20% of the vineyard's surface area is certified organic, i.e. some 29 hectares.

Organic farming is booming in Cornas.

Syrah is the only grape variety authorized in AOC Cornas. It gives the wines their power, structure and aromas of black fruits and spices.

Red wines from Cornas are made from Syrah.

The red wines of Cornas are characterized by their intense ruby color, their complex nose of black fruit, spice and floral aromas, and their full, fleshy mouthfeel. They are endowed with good acidity and a long finish.

You can discover the Cornas from domaine Gilles Robin and those from domaine François Villard.
