Domaine Plageoles
Le domaine Plageoles in a few words....
The Domaine Plageoles produces some of the most original wines in the South-West. It has given new life to old grape varieties to perpetuate the Gaillac vineyard tradition. Since 1805, Domaine Plageoles has been producing Gaillac wine from local grape varieties such as Mauzac or Ondenc for white wines, or Duras, Braucol and Prunelart for red wines.
The Domaine Plageoles works its vines in a totally natural way and does very little sulfuring of its wines. As a result, there's a great deal of fruit expression in every cuvée.
The Mauzac nature from domaine Plageoles is a masterful effervescent, probably the most successful in the South-West. Fresh, fruity and airy, it's an elegant, original and refreshing bubble.
The Mauzac vert quiet is powerful and demonstrative. I like to pair it with Asian dishes.
Red Duras is powerful but has round tannins. Ideal for discovering the character of the Gaillac AOC.
The red Duras is powerful but has round tannins.
The Mauzac Roux is a gorgeous Gaillac that develops on notes of honey, ripe apricots and peaches.
Finally, Ondenc doux from Domaine Plageoles is one of France's great sweet wines. An AOC benchmark.
The Guides speak better of it than we do
Guide des meilleurs vins de France 2019 (domaine 2 étoiles sur 3): "The Plageoles family has left its mark on the recent history of Gaillac. Robert and today Bernard, who has brilliantly taken over from him, were pioneers in the defense of local grape varieties and ancestral winemaking techniques(...) This work of the head, heart and hands is fully translated into a range of irreproachable cuvées, aiming for purity and uprightness.
