AOC Pécharmant

The Pécharmant PDO, located in the Périgord region in the heart of the Dordogne, is an appellation renowned for its powerful, elegant red wines. With a name meaning "Mont Charmant", this wine region offers wines with a strong character, born of a long tradition and an exceptional terroir.

Producing exclusively reds, AOP Pécharmant is dominated by traditional South-West grape varieties, such as Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, and Malbec. Wines from this appellation are distinguished by their aromatic richness, silky tannins and excellent ageing potential.

More and more Pécharmant estates are adopting organic viticulture practices, reflecting a commitment to quality and respect for the environment. Pécharmant's organic wines seduce with their balance of power and finesse, making this appellation a must for lovers of great South-Western reds.

The Pécharmant appellation is a key element in the development of the Pécharmant appellation.

The Pécharmant PDO lies to the east of Bergerac, on the slopes overlooking the Dordogne valley. With a surface area of almost 400 hectares, the appellation is relatively small, but it makes up for its size with the exceptional quality of its wines. Pécharmant's terroir is unique, characterized by sandy-clay soils and a layer of ferruginous gravel called "tran". This type of soil gives the wines an assertive tannic structure and beautiful aromatic complexity, with a distinctive mineral signature. The temperate climate, influenced by the Atlantic Ocean, offers ideal conditions for growing red grape varieties. Warm summers and mild autumns enable slow, even ripening of the grapes, favoring optimal expression of aromas and tannins.

.

This combination of terroir and climate gives rise to rich, fleshy and elegant organic Pécharmant wines, where the typicity of the soil and grape varieties are fully expressed.

Pécharmant PDO wines are exclusively reds, made from traditional South-West grape varieties, which give the wines their unique character and complexity. These grape varieties are blended to produce harmonious, balanced wines capable of aging.

Merlot: The dominant grape variety in many blends, Merlot brings roundness, suppleness and ripe red fruit aromas, such as cherry and plum. It also helps soften the tannins of other grape varieties.

Cabernet Sauvignon: Known for its tannic structure and richness, it contributes aromas of blackcurrant, black pepper and sometimes cedar. This grape is essential for giving Pécharmant wines their ageing potential.

Cabernet Franc: More subtle, it adds finesse and freshness to blends, with notes of raspberry, strawberry and a slight vegetal touch.

Malbec: This emblematic grape of the Southwest confers color, intensity and aromas of black fruits, such as blackberry and blueberry, with a spicy touch.

These grape varieties, carefully cultivated in vineyards often oriented towards organic viticulture, allow Pécharmant's organic wines to stand out for their richness, power and harmony.

Pécharmant PDO wines are characterized by their aromatic richness, tannic structure and ability to evolve magnificently over time. They are gastronomic wines, perfect to accompany elaborate dishes or to be enjoyed on special occasions.

The robe : Red wines from Pécharmant are very well-balanced.

The color: Pécharmant reds boast a deep, often dark garnet color, testifying to their concentration and richness.

Nose: On the nose, the wines reveal a complex aromatic palette. There are aromas of ripe black fruits (blackberry, blackcurrant, plum), accompanied by notes of spice, licorice and sometimes chocolate or leather. With age, the aromas evolve towards nuances of undergrowth, truffle and tobacco.

.

Mouth: On the palate, Pécharmant organic wines offer an elegant tannic structure, supported by a beautiful freshness. The well-presented tannins become silkier with age, while the aromatic richness intensifies. The finish is often long, marked by spicy and mineral notes.

These wines are perfect with red meats, game, dishes in sauce or mature cheeses
