Château Tour des Gendres

Chateau Tour des Gendres in a few words

Luc de Conti, who created château de la Tour des Gendres, was an avant-garde and committed winemaker. He restored the Bergerac appellation to its former glory through many years of organic tillage and outstanding winemaking. By producing terroir-driven, accessible organic wines of great purity, Château Tour des Gendres has demonstrated the full richness of this region. A sure bet!

Le Château Tour des Gendres is an estate located in Ribagnac, in the center of the Bergerac appellation, which extends over nearly 52 hectares entirely farmed organically since the 1990s and certified since 2009

Managed today by Gilles and Margaux de Conti, this family estate remains true to the innovative spirit of Luc de Conti, who pioneered organic farming as early as 1996, shaping the estate's unique identity

Le Château Tour des Gendres rests on clay-limestone soils mixed with cold clay and boulbènes, with a high proportion of limestone particularly conducive to balanced whites and structured reds . The vines are planted on a hilly area and surrounded by truffle oaks as well as forests, creating a rich and preserved ecosystem, favorable to biodiversity and vineyard health without recourse to chemical inputs

.

In the cellar, vinification is carried out gently, adapting to each cuvée and each vintage. The whites are pressed directly, fermented in temperature-controlled stainless steel vats and often aged in 30 hl foudres. No new barrels are used to preserve aromatic purity and mineral tension. Red wines are gently macerated for around a month, followed by ageing in foudres or stainless steel vats to preserve tannins and fruit expression

.

The Cuvée Classique Rouge Bergerac is composed of 60% Merlot and 40% Malbec, and boasts a garnet-red color, a nose of fresh black fruits and a crisp, gourmand palate, with silky tannins and immediate drinkability. It testifies to the elegant style that the domaine knows how to imprint on its wines, without overdoing wood or heavy structure

.

The Cantalouette Rouge cuvée, a classic blend of Merlot and Malbec, offers a fruitier, crisper expression, with notes of fresh Morello cherry and a supple finish. This elegant wine embodies the freshness and dynamism of accessible organic Bergerac reds

.

The cuvée Moulin des Dames Blanc is a 100% Sauvignon Blanc wine vinified in 30 hl tuns, with fermentation on long lees for 12 months. It charms with a nose of dried apricot, citrus zest and delicate bitters, with a slender, saline finish typical of dry Bergerac terroir wines

.

The Cuvée des Conti Blanc blends Semillon, Sauvignon and Muscadelle in a round, expressive structure. Harvested at optimum ripeness, the Sémillons are partially passerillé, resulting in a fruity, well-balanced palate ideal for seafood or fresh foie gras

.

The cuvée La Gloire de mon Père, produced in the Côtes-de-Bergerac appellation, combines Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot and Malbec. This wine reveals a more assertive tannic structure, aromas of black fruit, cocoa and licorice, and a long, dense finish. It is aged for twelve months, partly in new barrels and then in vats, and can easily be kept for eight to ten years

The estate represents an essential reference in organic Bergerac, with demanding, respectful viticulture and cellar work always focused on the balance between fruit, freshness and structure. The Tour des Gendres style produces lively wines worthy of the best organic viticulture in the South-West, recognized by guides such as Guide Hachette and RVF for their consistent quality

Guide des meilleurs vins de France 2025, domaine 2 étoiles: "Luc de Conti has been delighting us with his Bergerac wines for over 25 years now. By successive strokes, he has become familiar with his terroir, mastered the ripening of the grapes and barrel ageing, always in search of the best balance. The 55-hectare vineyard, entirely converted to organic farming, produces some of the most homogeneous and consistent wines in the Bergerac region: top-quality dry whites and up-and-coming reds. Today, Château Tour des Gendres is an intelligent, forward-thinking flagship for the entire region.

Château Tour des Gendres Bergerac - Albert's vineyard 2024

La vigne d'Albert du Château Tour des Gendres is a wine that pays tribute to Albert, the grandfather. This sulfur-free Bergerac has a very clean nose with notes of spices and red fruits. The palate is crisp, salivating and greedy. A buddy wine, in no way rustic, that reconciles with natural wines.Wine without added sulfurGuide des meilleurs vins de France 2018: 16/20
