Discover our wide range of organic and natural loire wines

Organic wines from the Loire Valley come from such a wide variety of terroir and grape varieties that it's hard to talk about the region in general. Indeed, what's comparable between a Muscadet and a Vouvray, a Gamay from Touraine and a Saint-Nicolas de Bourgueil? What Loire wines have in common is their good value for money and their overall versatility.

The climate of the Loire produces balanced, digestible wines, increasingly enhanced by global warming.

The Loire Valley is one of France's most emblematic wine regions, renowned for its enchanting landscapes, its châteaux and above all the quality and diversity of its wines. Thanks to its varied soils, temperate climate and long tradition of winegrowing, the region offers ideal terrain for organic viticulture. Many estates in the Loire have turned to environmentally-friendly practices, producing organic wines that showcase the richness of their terroirs and the authenticity of local grape varieties.

Organic Loire wines are distinguished by their freshness, finesse and complexity. The region offers a wide variety of wines, from delicate reds to lively, mineral whites, fruity rosés and natural sparklers. Each bottle embodies traditional savoir-faire combined with a modern, eco-friendly approach, making organic Loire wines a benchmark for lovers of pure, nature-friendly wines.

The Loire Valley is one of France's largest wine-producing regions, stretching over 800 kilometers from the Massif Central to the Atlantic. This geographical diversity translates into an incredible variety of terroirs and microclimates, enabling the production of organic Loire wines with unique and varied aromatic profiles.

In the eastern part of the region, we find flint and limestone soils in the Sancerre and Pouilly-Fumé appellations, which bring a unique minerality to the white wines. Further down the Loire, we come across the clay-limestone terroirs of Touraine, perfect for Chenin Blanc, Sauvignon Blanc and Cabernet Franc. Further west, in Anjou-Saumur and Pays Nantais, schistose and volcanic soils give wines incomparable complexity and freshness.

The climate of the Loire Valley is generally temperate, with Atlantic influences in the vineyards closest to the coast, which is ideal for organic viticulture. These conditions favor grape ripening while naturally limiting the need for chemical treatments, enabling winemakers to produce organic wines of exceptional quality, which express their terroir with authenticity.

Vinegrowers in the Loire Valley are among the most committed to organic viticulture in France. Faced with a growing demand for healthy, environmentally-friendly wines, many of the region's estates have adopted organic and biodynamic growing methods, producing organic Loire wines of great purity.

In the vineyards, organic practices are geared towards preserving the ecosystem. The winegrowers favor natural grassing between the rows to enhance biodiversity and reinforce soil structure. They favor natural treatments, such as copper and sulfur, in limited quantities, and plant-based preparations to reinforce the vines' natural resistance. By eliminating the use of synthetic chemicals, the winemakers allow the grape varieties to express themselves fully, while respecting nature's cycles.

In the cellar, organic practices involve gentle vinification, with indigenous yeasts and minimal use of sulfur to preserve the authenticity of aromas. Organic Loire wines thus benefit from non-interventionist winemaking, bringing out the freshness, finesse and character of the terroir.

This commitment to organic viticulture has enabled the Loire Valley to establish itself as a pioneering region for natural wines, with consistent quality and a wide diversity of styles.

Organic Loire wines owe their diversity and unique character to a wide range of grape varieties adapted to the region's climatic and geological conditions. Organic white, red, rosé and sparkling wines from the Loire Valley are characterized by a rich aromatic palette, due to varied and often emblematic grape varieties.

Among white grape varieties, Sauvignon Blanc and Chenin Blanc dominate. Sauvignon Blanc, mainly grown in the Sancerre, Pouilly-Fumé and Touraine appellations, produces fresh, mineral and intense organic wines, with citrus, green apple and gunflint aromas. Chenin Blanc, found mainly in Anjou and Vouvray, offers organic wines with floral, apple, honey and sometimes quince aromas, with a lovely acidity that gives them remarkable ageing potential.

On the red side, Cabernet Franc is the region's emblematic grape variety, particularly in the Chinon, Bourgueil and Saumur-Champigny appellations. This variety produces fruity, supple and slightly spicy organic wines, with notes of red fruit and sometimes bell pepper. Gamay is also found in the Loire region, particularly in Touraine, where it brings freshness and lightness to red and rosé wines.

Melon de Bourgogne, meanwhile, is the exclusive grape variety for Muscadet du Pays Nantais. This white grape produces lively, mineral organic wines, perfect for accompanying seafood. This diversity of grape varieties enables Loire organic wines to offer unique and expressive aromatic profiles, in tune with contemporary tastes for natural, authentic and refined wines.

The Loire Valley is home to several prestigious appellations, each producing organic Loire wines that faithfully reflect their terroir and grape variety. Among the most renowned appellations are:

Sancerre bio: This appellation produces intense, mineral Sauvignon Blanc-based organic white wines that pair wonderfully with fish and goat cheeses, especially Crottin de Chavignol.

Pouilly-Fumé bio: Located opposite Sancerre, this appellation is famous for its smoky, elegant organic white wines, also made from Sauvignon Blanc.

Vouvray bio: This Touraine appellation is renowned for its organic Chenin Blanc-based wines, which can be dry, mellow or sparkling, with lovely acidity and great aromatic complexity.

Chinon bio and Bourgueil bio: These two Loire appellations are dedicated to organic red wines made from Cabernet Franc, offering fresh, fruity and elegant wines, perfect for accompanying red meats or dishes in sauce.

Muscadet Sèvre-et-Maine bio: In the Pays Nantais, this appellation produces organic white wines from Melon de Bourgogne, renowned for their freshness and minerality, perfect for accompanying oysters and seafood.

These appellations make organic Loire wines an essential choice for lovers of fine wines and expressive terroirs, where each wine tells a story of tradition and respect for nature.
