The Domaine de la Bégude in a few words
The Domaine de la Bégude is a 500-hectare estate, including 17 hectares of vines. Situated at an altitude of 400 meters, at the geographical pinnacle of the Bandol appellation, the vineyard is subject to sharp variations in temperature between day and night, enabling the estate's organic wines to retain a remarkable freshness, which is often lacking in this AOC. Guillaume Tari, the owner of Domaine de la Bégude, refrains from any harsh intervention in the vines and wines, including weedkillers, pesticides and chemical fertilizers. Great Bandol de garde in all colors.
A 2-star estate in the guide des meilleurs vins de France 2019: "Bordeaux-born Guillaume and Soledad Tari head up this 500-hectare estate, in the middle of which nestle 20 hectares of organically farmed vines. One of the main features of this wine estate is its altitude. At 410 meters, La Bégude enjoys a very different climate from that near the coast.(...)With powerful aromas of black fruit and black olive, the reds (50% of the volume) always offer a warm spirit, at the upper limit of ripeness! The rosé is always remarkable for its singular vinosity."
Bettane et Dessauve 2019:"Mourvèdre has the gift of expressing the character of its terroir, but also that of its winemaker. The wines show a distinctly Bordeaux trait, sophisticated and well-bred, without betraying this spendid, wild terroir perched on the Grande Bleue"
