Domaine Bernard Defaix

The Bernard Defaix estate in a few words...

Bernard Defaix set up in 1959 with two hectares on the Chablis terroir. Over time, Bernard and his wife expanded the estate to include the appellation's best parcels.

Today, the estate is managed by Didier and Sylvain, but Bernard nonetheless continues to give sound advice to his two sons.

The Domaine Bernard Defaix began an organic conversion in 2009, and the estate is now certified organic.Guide des meilleurs vin de France 2020 about Domaine Bernard Defaix: "Sylvain and Didier Defaix helm the family estate in Milly, whose vineyards are located on the left bank of the Serein. Their Premier Crus, a little less well known than those on the right bank, are full of surprises in warm years, particularly on the Côte de Léchet terroir. Thanks to skilful vinification and ageing on lees in vats, the wines gain in body and protect themselves against oxidation. The more common cuvées from the trade (premier cru Fourchaume and grands crus) simply bear the Bernard Defaix label, but are highly recommendable. The entry-level wines offer remarkable value for money, and the grand crus have progressed: the domaine is in good shape."
