AOC Macon-Fuissé

The Appellation d'Origine Protégée (AOP) Mâcon-Fuissé is a sub-appellation of the Mâconnais region, located in southern Burgundy. Renowned for its elegant, well-balanced white wines, this appellation reflects the excellence and diversity of Burgundy's terroirs.

The Mâcon-Fuissé PDO is located near the iconic village of Fuissé, in the heart of the Mâconnais region. The vineyard enjoys a privileged geographical location, with characteristic clay-limestone soils that contribute to the minerality and complexity of the wines. The region's climate is semi-continental, with Mediterranean influences, offering ideal conditions for growing the Chardonnay grape.

Mâcon-Fuissé PDO wines are made exclusively from the Chardonnay grape. They are distinguished by their freshness, purity and balance. Typical aromas include notes of white-fleshed fruit (apple, pear), stone fruit (peach, apricot), as well as floral (white flowers) and mineral (gunflint) nuances. On the palate, the wines are lively, round and harmonious, with well-integrated acidity and an elegant finish.

The Mâcon-Fuissé PDO covers a relatively modest area, but each parcel contributes to the exceptional quality of the wines produced. Annual production varies from vintage to vintage, but remains limited, guaranteeing meticulous attention to each stage of winemaking and high wine quality. On average, around 2,500 hectolitres of wine are produced each year, equivalent to around 333,000 bottles.

Mâcon-Fuissé PDO wines are appreciated for their perfect balance between freshness and aromatic richness. Their lively acidity and harmonious structure make them versatile wines, capable of accompanying a wide variety of dishes, from seafood to poultry in sauce. Wines from this appellation can be enjoyed young to benefit from their freshness, but certain vintages can also improve with a few years of cellaring.
