Camin Larredya

The Camin Larredya in a few words...

Domaine Camin Larredya: an exceptional estate

Located at the foot of the Pyrenees, Domaine Camin Larredya is one of the jewels of the Jurançon appellation. Founded in 1988 by Jean-Marc Grussaute, this family-run estate has established itself as a benchmark for lovers of dry and sweet white wines. Far from standardized production, Camin Larredya relies on organic and biodynamic practices, favoring sustainable viticulture that respects the terroir. With vines grown on steep slopes and a climate conducive to over-ripening of the grapes, the estate brilliantly expresses all the typicity of Jurançon. Its remarkably fine and complex cuvées are both lively and delicious, offering a unique aromatic palette. Let's dive into the world of this exceptional estate together.

The Domaine Camin Larredya covers 9.5 hectares in La Chapelle de Rousse, in the heart of Jurançon. This vineyard benefits from an exceptional terroir that gives its wines great depth and a distinctive minerality

The Jurançon appellation is characterized by an oceanic mountain climate, with Pyrenean influences. This climate offers mild, humid autumns, conducive to over-ripening and the concentration of sugars in the grapes. The vineyards also benefit from the **warm foehn wind**, which favors water evaporation and intensifies berry aromas. The soil is mainly composed of **poudingues and limestone**, offering optimal water retention and a marked minerality. These conditions enable a pure and authentic expression of the local grape varieties.

Jean-Marc Grussaute adopted an organic and biodynamic approach early on. Certified organic since 2007, the estate practices biodynamics to enhance soil vitality and promote a balanced ecosystem.

The grape varieties grown on the Domaine Camin Larredya are based on local varieties, which give Jurançon its richness and uniqueness:

- Petit Manseng (70%): the flagship variety of sweet wines, offering good acidity and great aromatic complexity (exotic fruits, honey, spices).

- Gros Manseng (25%): Brings freshness and liveliness, often used in dry Jurançon cuvées.

- Petit Courbu, Camaralet and Lauzet: Old grape varieties that add a touch of finesse and structure.

The Domaine Camin Larredya embodies all the richness and uniqueness of Jurançon. Through respectful viticulture and meticulous work in both vineyard and cellar, Jean-Marc Grussaute offers authentic wines, marked by their terroir and exceptional minerality. A real favorite!!!

The dry whites from Domaine Camin Larredya are chiseled and straightforward: superb organic gourmet wines that deserve a few months for Part Davan and a few years for Virada.

The moelleux are models of balance, with sweetness always coated and never heavy.

The cuvées of Domaine Camin Larredya

La Part Davan is a great Jurançon produced by domaine Camin Larredya: complex, powerful and precise, it belongs to the elite on this terroir. Fish and cheese will be excellent accompaniments to this organic wine.

La Virada is even more complex and has a very assertive personality: white pepper, white fruit and minerality make this organic wine a great bottle for ageing.

Costa Blanca is the estate's grand cuvée, long and bewitching!

On the mellow side, Costa Darrer is a balanced Jurançon where the sugar is well melted. A fresh wine to accompany foie gras.

100% petit manseng, the cuvée Au Capceu has more fat, power and complexity: with this cuvée, Camin Larredya produces one of the benchmarks for dessert wines.

Finally, Cuvée A Solhèvat is made from the most extremely wilted berries, on vines facing the east, to build this small, very rich, very opulent, even syrupy cuvée. Camin Larredya produces here a great wine for lovers of very sweet sweets.
