AOP Terrasses du Larzac

L'AOP Terrasses du Larzac in a nutshell

The organic and natural Terrasses du Larzac wines we have selected are among the elite of this appellation. The wines of this appellation are full-bodied, complex and long, and are among the very best in their vast majority.

Taste the wines from Mas Jullien, from Mas de la Seranne, from Clos de la Barthassade, Domaine de la Réserve d'O, from Mas des Chimères, Mas Haut-Buis or even Les vignes Oubliées and emotions will run high!

The Terrasses du Larzac PDO (Protected Designation of Origin) is a wine appellation located in the Languedoc region of southern France. It was granted in 2014, recognizing the exceptional quality of the wines produced in this specific area.

The Terrasses du Larzac territory extends over several communes in the Hérault department. This exceptional terroir is characterized by limestone terraces, clay-limestone soils, and varied exposures, creating ideal conditions for winegrowing.

The Terrasses du Larzac appellation is one of the finest in France.

The Terrasses du Larzac appellation is renowned for its red wines, although white and rosé wines are also produced. Grape varieties used for red wines typically include Grenache, Syrah, Mourvèdre, Carignan, and other authorized varieties. White wines are often made from Grenache Blanc, Roussanne, Marsanne, and other white varieties of the region.

The red wines of Terrasses du Larzac are characterized by their depth, complexity and well-balanced tannic structure. There are aromas of ripe red and black fruits, spicy notes, and an elegant minerality from the limestone soils. These wines reflect the Mediterranean character while retaining a distinctive freshness.

Terrasses du Larzac winemakers are known for their commitment to sustainable viticultural practices. Most estates favor hand-picking and traditional winemaking, with particular attention paid to the expression of terroir. Some vineyards are farmed organically or biodynamically, emphasizing the importance of preserving the local ecosystem.
