Les Ouvrées du Clos de la Barthassade is a wine for great ageing, to be drunk over 10 years! Made from 50% Syrah, this wine is aged for 20 months in demi-muids, barrels and concrete eggs. The nose is already open, with notes of black fruit, spices and a hint of menthol. The palate is full-bodied, long and complex, with diabolical balance. It develops on notes of black fruit, roasting and spices, finishing on balsamic notes. A magnificent cuvée that rivals the appellation's best. Magnificent!
Hélène and Guillaume Barron have been running le Clos de la Barthassade since 2014, a vineyard they created in Aniane, in the heart of the Terrasses du Larzac, next to the famous Grange des Pères.Having done their range notably with sylvain Pataille in Burgundy, this talented winemaking couple produce fresh, digestible wines, amazingly balanced for the region. The Clos de la Barthassade vineyard is farmed organically, and certain tasks are governed by the biodynamic calendar.11 hectares of vines are currently planted in several communes, including Montpeyroux, Jonquières and Saint-Saturnin. Everything is done here to develop life in and out of the soil." Clos de la Barthassade takes its name from the Occitan "bartàs" meaning "bush, scrub" and refers to the dense woodland bordering our plots in Montpeyroux." - Hélène & Guillaume Barron
