Château Fonroque

The château Fonroque is the Saint-Emilion cradle of the Moueix family, acquired in 1931 by Jean and Adèle, great-grandparents of Alain Moueix, operator of this wine estate.

The château Fonroque, a twenty-hectare estate, has been run by Alain Moueix since 2000. Thanks to his training as an engineer and oenologist, and enriched by winemaking experience in France and abroad, he made the conscious choice to go organic for château Fonroque, back in 2002. Inspection for certification began in 2003, at the same time as a gradual switch to biodynamic viticulture.

The château Fonroque is now one of the appellation's benchmarks.

We recommend château Fonroque with red meat dishes, a grilled entrecôte for example, but also a boeuf bourguignon. With a little age, you could serve it on a rack of lamb with herbs or veal with porcini mushrooms.

The château Fonroque 2007 is a great success: the wine has very soft tannins and declines on notes of red fruits, all possessing a fresh finish.

The château Fonroque 2009 is more powerful, with a more imposing body, but has retained superb balance. A great bottle that will go a long way!

The Château Fonroque 2010 is without doubt the most accomplished wine produced by the estate. It is both powerful and well-balanced. It will go far if you know how to be patient.

In the meantime, you can enjoy the 2nd wine, Côte de Fonroque 2010, which has benefited from the same care as its big brother and enjoyed a dream vintage. Excellent value for money.

Find other great organic Bordeaux wines with the Château Mangot, the Château Leydet-Valentin, the Château Gombaude-Gullot, the Château Mille Roses or the Château Mazeyres.
