Le Rocher des Violettes

Le Rocher des Violettes in a few words....

Le Rocher des Violettes is a magnificent 17-hectare wine estate located in the Montlouis PDO.

Xavier Weisskopf founded Le Rocher des Violettes in 2005, taking over 7ha of old Chenin vines in Montlouis sur Loire AOC and century-old Côt vines in Touraine AOC. He was joined in 2010 by his wife, Clémence, to help with the administrative and commercial side of the business.

The estate Le Rocher des Violettes has been organically farmed since 2008: the vines are grown without the use of synthetic chemicals, respecting the environment and biodiversity. Biodynamic viticulture is also applied to promote the natural balance of the vines and soil.

The wines of Rocher des Violettes are renowned for their freshness, purity and aromatic complexity. They are wines for laying down, capable of ageing well in the bottle. The main cuvées produced by the estate are dry white wines, sweet wines and sparkling wines, all of which are crafted with care and passion!

Guide des meilleurs vins de France 2023, domaine 1 étoiles: "Xavier Weisskopf discovered the winemaking profession in Chablis. He trained in Beaune, made wine in Gigondas, and moved to Montlouis-sur-Loire in 2005. He has an excellent troglodyte cellar in the heart of the town of Amboise (...). The purity, integrity and precision of the whites have few equals in the region.."

The Chenin is a crisp, upright dry white wine; we love its minerality and versatility.

Touche Mitaine is the Montlouis cuvée from young vines: it is a fresh and airy organic wine.
