The Domaine de la Verpaille is a family-run winery located in the southern Burgundy region of France. This domaine produces top-quality white Bougognes from Chardonnay grapes grown on the Viré-Clessé Terroir. Domaine de la Verpaille's vineyards are located on limestone and clay-limestone soils, which give the wines their fruity, mineral character.
The wines of Domaine de la Verpaille are characterized by their elegance, finesse and fruity character. The Viré-clessé are elegant and mineral, with notes of white fruit and flint. The Macon-Village and white Burgundy from Domaine de la Verpaille are rounder and more gourmet.
.The domaine is run by Estelle and Baptiste Philippe, who have been perpetuating traditional and organic viticulture for 5 generations, with the AB Label since 2006. The 2004 vintage was their first harvest. They began by taking over 9 hectares of the family estate. In 2006, Domaine de la Verpaille began its conversion to organic farming. The estate is certified in Organic Agriculture for the 2009 harvest. Domaine de la Verpaille's main grape variety is Chardonnay, and we have a small amount of Gamay.
In the cellar, fermentations take place using indigenous yeasts without chaptalization. Once fermentation is complete, the wines are aged on fine lees. Cuvées are vinified and aged for 9 to 14 months.
