The Domaine du Closel in Savennières is a renowned wine estate, located in the heart of the Loire Valley, in the Anjou wine region. Founded in 1495, this historic estate boasts an exceptional terroir and a long winemaking tradition.

Managed by the passionate and visionary Madame Evelyne de Pontbriand, the Domaine du Closel covers an area of 15 hectares, of which 11 hectares are dedicated to growing the region's emblematic grape variety, Chenin Blanc. Since 2004, the estate has been farmed organically, respecting the environment and biodiversity.

The Domaine du Closel benefits from a unique terroir, characterized by schist and clay-limestone soils, as well as a favorable microclimate. This combination offers ideal conditions for growing Chenin Blanc, resulting in wines of great finesse and aromatic expression.

The Domaine du Closel wine range is made up of different cuvées, all from the Chenin Blanc grape variety. Among the most emblematic is the "Clos du Papillon", a dry and elegant white wine, Les Caillardières a magnificent parcel , la Jalousie, a superb Sannières to discover the estate all round and greedy. Each bottle bears witness to the estate's expertise and commitment to quality and authenticity.

Domaine Du Closel Savennières - Les Caillardières 2020

Les Caillardières du domaine de Closel is a Savennières comes from a schistosandstone terroir (with aeolian sands on the surface). The berries, from vines averaging 35 years old, are harvested golden to give a wine with ripe fruit aromas. This cuvée is characterized by its supple structure and a slight bitterness characteristic of Savennières.

The Clos du Papillon parcel from the domaine de Closel is an organic Savennières, with a very fine texture: it combines volume on the palate and minerality, with a long, persistent finish. This cuvée is absolutely cut out for ageing, and deserves to be waited for at least two to three years to reveal its full potential.
