The Domaine du Pre-Sémelé is located in Maimbray in the commune of Sury-en-Vaux, 5 km north of Sancerre.
Grown by 2 brothers, Julien and Clément Raimbault, who run this organic estate, the domaine du Pré-sémelé covers around 20 hectares. The estate has managed to remain family-run, and the definition of the wines has greatly improved in recent years thanks to a great deal of work in the vineyard: grassed inter-rows and mechanical cultivation under the vines to force the roots to plunge deep into the soil.
The terroirs of the Domaine du Pré-Sémelé are clay-limestone, 70% of which is white earth (Kimmeridjian marl) and 30% caillottes (Portlandian limestone). Harvesting is done by hand.
