AOP Pouilly-Loché is a French wine appellation located in Burgundy, about 5 kilometers north of Mâcon. It is known for the production of dry white wines made from the Chardonnay grape variety.
The Pouilly-Loché vineyard is located on the Côte Chalonnaise, at an altitude of between 200 and 400 meters. The soils are mainly composed of clay and limestone, which give the wines their distinct minerality and structure.
The region's climate is continental, with hot, dry summers and cold, wet winters. These climatic conditions favor the production of elegant, complex dry white wines.
The white wines of AOP Pouilly-Loché are generally pale yellow to golden yellow in color. They present aromas of white fruit, flowers and honey. They are dry, with good acidity and pronounced minerality. They can age for several years.
Pouilly-Loché wines are appreciated for their freshness, finesse and complexity. The Clos des Rocs spearheads this PDO.
Here are some of Pouilly-Loché's most famous climats:
Les Mûres: A climate located on the heights of the village, which produces elegant and complex dry white wines, with aromas of white fruits, flowers and honey.
Clos des Rocs Monopole: A small climate, located in the heart of the village, which produces powerful, mineral dry white wines, with aromas of white fruit, flowers and honey.
