Domaine Clusel-Roch

The Domaine Clusel Roch in brief....

The domaine Clusel-Roch produces wines in the Côte-Rôtie AOC, mainly, but also Condrieu and Coteaux du Giennois.

The Domaine Clusel-Roch was founded in the 1980s by Gilbert Clusel and Brigitte Roch, and is now run by their children, Guillaume and Nathalie Clusel. Their approach to viticulture is based on organic and biodynamic principles, emphasizing respect for the environment and preservation of biodiversity.

The vines of the Domaine Clusel-Roch are planted on steep slopes composed mainly of granite. Grapes are harvested by hand, and vinification is traditional, with indigenous yeast fermentation and long maceration to extract the grapes' aromas and tannins.

The style of Domaine Clusel-Roch wines is uncluttered, straightforward, without any modernism but with superb fruit and beautiful balance.

The wines of Domaine Clusel-Roch are organic wines crafted to highlight their exceptional terroir: the domaine refuses outrageous oakiness and doesn't want to give in to the temptation of wines that are too rich or too extracted.

The Côte-Rôtie is ideal with venison stew, ribs on the bone or roast pigeon. The Condrieu will work wonders on saffron quail or a pretty foie gras, for example.

Guide des meilleurs vins de France 2019, domaine 2 étoiles (sur 3): "this beautiful estate located in the northern part of the Côte Rotie appellation has been labeled organic since 2002. The vines are planted using massal selection. The wines are made in a very low-extract style, with a proportion that is not destemmed. In recent years, the estate has added a third appellation, Coteaux du Lyonnais. We're delighted with the quality of the domaine's wines"

The Domaine Clusel Roch cuvées

The estate's first cuvée, les Schistes, is superbly digestible: it can be drunk within two to three years of harvest.

Les Grandes Places is richer and more complex: you'll need to wait a minimum of five to six years for it to fully blossom.

The Condrieu from domaine Clusel-Roch is greedy and elegant with fruity notes but also with a beautiful minerality.
