AOC Fleurie

The Fleurie appellation d'origine contrôlée (AOC) is a French wine appellation located in the Rhône department, in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region. This appellation produces red wines made in the commune of Fleurie, located in the Beaujolais vineyards of France.

The presence of vines on Fleurie is attested as early as 987. Fleurie has been recognized by the Institut national de l'origine et de la qualité (INAO) as an appellation d'origine contrôlée (AOC) since the decree of September 11, 1936.

Fleurie's vineyards are located in the Beaujolais region.

The Fleurie vineyards are located on a plateau with an average altitude of 340 meters. The soil consists of pink granite, which is a sandy, draining soil. This soil gives Fleurie wines their fruity, elegant character.

The single grape variety authorized for the Fleurie AOC is Gamay. This grape variety is the flagship variety of Beaujolais: it produces wines that age well for the best crus.

The wines of Fleurie are made from a single grape variety, Gamay.

Fleurie wines are vinified using carbonic maceration, a method that involves fermenting whole grapes in closed tanks. This method preserves the gamay's fruity aromas.

Fleurie wines pair well with charcuterie, cheeses and grilled or roasted meat dishes.

We offer organic and natural wines from domaine de la Grosse Pierre, from domaine Georges Descombes and the domaine de la Grand' Cour on the Fleurie terroir.
