Château Yvonne

A few words about Chateau Yvonne

The chateau Yvonne was created in 1996 by Matthieu Vallée; it occupies a total area of 2.5 hectares spread over the communes of Parnay and Montsoreau, on magnificent parcels. The estate produces organic red and white wines in the Saumur and Saumur-Champigny appellations.

At Château Yvonne, vineyard work is paramount. Traditional techniques: ploughing the soil, minimal and always organic treatments, short pruning to obtain fair yields. This rigorous approach also applies to the work carried out in the centuries-old troglodytic cellar: long vinification and ageing in barrels, with no exogenous yeast, fining or filtration.

At Château Yvonne, we're committed to the highest standards of quality.

In the more than 10 years we've been following this estate, we've watched the wines progress: now, all Château Yvonne wines possess fine definition, the wines are more driven by fruit and less dominated by wood. This is particularly true of the estate's grandes cuvées, which have a more precise, brighter profile than before. Saumur-Champigny wines of the highest level. Unfortunately, with the success, the domaine is now on allocation and the wines are no longer available year-round.

.

Don't hesitate to cellar them for many years, they age admirably, both the red and white wines!

The blanc du château Yvonne, Saumur Blanc, is a benchmark for those who like chenin aged very nicely in oak barrels. Give it a few years to digest.

As for red wines, Cabernet Franc expresses itself magnificently at Château Yvonne with the cuvée La folie, to be drunk rather on the fruit. The Château Yvonne itself should be kept for 5 to 10 years to allow all its complexity to develop. L'ile 4 sous is a gourmet cuvée full of fruit, accessible when young for immediate pleasure!

Guide des meilleurs vins de France 2024: domaine 2 stars (out of 3): "Since the 2014 vintage, the wines have reached a remarkable level and have rid themselves of the reductions we criticized them for in their youth. Never have the wines achieved such refinement and a sensitive burst of fruit. An estate in top form.

Château Yvonne Saumur-Champigny - La Folie 2022

In a very successful 2022 vintage, the château Yvonne has produced a superb cuvée La Folie. The wine is rich, with very intense fruit. As always with this cuvée, we recommend decanting 2 hours before tasting, or storing for 3 to 5 years in a temperature-stable, high-hygrometry cellar.
