The Domaine Richaud in a few words

Le domaine Marcel Richaud is one of the most beautiful estates in the Rhône Valley, on Cairanne. Marcel Richaud is a lover of his terroir and pushed for the recent recognition of the Cairanne PDO, which he recently achieved.

The domaine Marcel Richaud produces some of the finest natural wines in the Rhône Valley. These red and white Cairannes are high-flying gourmet wines. These Côtes du Rhône are fruity and gourmet, the cairannes rich and with good cellaring capacity.

Like all great winemakers, Marcel Richaud is attentive to the quality of the raw material, namely the grapes: the grapes are harvested at optimum ripeness, and sorting is carried out with the utmost care. The grapes are harvested at precise times of day, in different containers depending on the time of day they are picked. Vinification is carried out using only indigenous yeasts. Human intervention is kept to a minimum. Domaine Richaud wines are neither fined nor filtered; only a little sulfur is added (around 15mg total S02 on average). Some cuvées from the Marcel Richaud estate are also produced without sulfur. Marcel Richaud produces white, red and rosé wines. We have selected our favorites from this range, which is of a very high standard whatever the vintage.

The cuvées of Domaine Marcel Richaud

A la Source from Domaine Richaud is a fruity cuvée, to be drunk young, slightly refreshed. A delicious, juicy wine.

Terre d'Aigle is the small cuvée from domaine Richaud: supple and easy, it should be drunk within 2 years.

The Terres des Galets cuvée from domaine Marcel Richaud is a supple, fruity red wine, but with a slightly more assertive character than Terre d'Aigle. It's a fruity red wine to be drunk within 2-3 years. We recommend it with couscous, for example.

The red Cairanne from domaine Marcel Richaud, for its part, is more structured. Domaine Marcel Richaud suggests drinking this wine over 4-5 years. Highly aromatic, with notes of black fruit, it's best served with dishes with a strong personality: try Cairanne with lamb tagine, rabbit with prunes or hare à la royale. The 2018 vintage is gourmand, with roundness, black fruits and sweet spices, truly bewitching!

The L'Ebrescade cuvée is the great red wine from the Marcel Richaud estate. Powerful, L'ebrescade is perfectly suited to game.

If you're unfamiliar with it, try the Cairanne blanc du domaine Richaud as well, with its luscious notes of exotic fruits and yellow peaches. A white very much at home with fish in sauce or poultry.

Les Estrambords, unlike Ebrescade, is a red wine made only in certain years, when the grapes offer sufficient potential. This wine is characterized by a high proportion of mourvèdre, giving it great ageing potential. Try it with fine game.
