Le Mas d'Espanet in a few words

Le Mas d'Espanet is a twenty-hectare wine estate. Situated between Uzès and Sommières in Languedoc, the estate lies in the Massif des Lens nestled among the garrigue.

Under two climatic influences on Languedoc's north-east border, the Mas d'Espanet vineyard offers a wide variety of soils, exposures and grape varieties (old vines over 50 years old). The mistral wind, cold nights, a natural approach to vine-growing (tillage), yields controlled according to grape varieties (short pruning, disbudding) bring freshness and concentrated aromas to Mas d'Espanet wines, allowing the terroir to express itself to the full.

This estate, run by Agnès and Denys Armand, is farmed biodynamically. Denys took over the estate in 1980. In 1999, Mas d'Espanet saw its cellar restored, the former sheepfolds transformed into a barrel cellar and 20 ha vinified. The cool terroir of this part of the Cévennes is ideal for producing great white wines, which account for half of Mas d'Espanet's production. Viognier, Chenin, Sauvignon and Grenache are blended together to produce the white wines. The estate's white wines are fruity and energetic. Cinsault, grenache and pinot noir are also used for red wines. Mas d'Espanet produces 100,000 bottles of organic wine every year. The estate's red wines are greedy and silky, with a velvety texture.

As the prices of the Freesia cuvées, their entry-level wines, are very attractive, this is a profit.

Freesia blanc du Mas d'Espanet is a 100% viognier cuvée, without any heaviness. Fruit and rare balance!

In red, Mas d'Espanet's cuvée Freesia is 100% cinsault, gourmand, light and fruity. A thirst-quenching cuvée from Mas d'Espanet.

In rosé, Freesia has a lovely freshness: it's a light, thirst-quenching wine with notes of red berries.

The cuvées Eolienne du Mas d'Espanet, in AOC Languedoc, have more substance and power, without losing the elegance that is the domaine's hallmark.

Finally, the Pinot is a 100% pinot noir, with an almost Burgundian balance. A Mas d'Espanet cuvée not to be missed.
