The Château de Coulaine in a few words...

Located on the illustrious Véron terroir already sung by Rabelais, the Château de Coulaine is a very old family estate whose winegrowing tradition has never stopped since 1300.

From time immemorial, vines have enjoyed sinking their roots into the land that surrounds Château de Coulaine, rebuilt in the 15th century.

In 1988, Étienne de Bonnaventure undertook the expansion of the vineyard of this famous chateau, which today comprises twelve hectares, organically farmed.

Guide des meilleurs vins de France 2020: "The property has been in the Bonnaventure family since the Middle Ages.(...) Today, Château de Coulaine produces a brilliant range of organic Chinons that combine fresh fruit and textural elegance. Vintages do not erase the expression of terroir. Since January 2017, Jean, Etienne and Pascele's son, has been at the helm of the estate."

The Château de Coulaine cuvées

The first, called Château de Coulaine, is already an excellent wine. Fruity and greedy, it represents very good value for money.

The Cuvée Les Picasses is very explosive, all breadth and fruit: it plays on the gourmet register.

Clos de Turpenay is another Château de Coulaine cuvée. Finer, the wine reveals spicy notes (clove pepper). It is the ideal companion for fine white meats.

La Diablesse is the most virile and animal of all Château de Coulaine cuvées. A few years in the cellar will do it a world of good!

Chateau de Coulaine also produces some excellent whites: the pieds rotis, a fruity and exotic 100% chenin white, with a few grams of residual sugar on certain vintages. Château de Coulaine's Chinon is superb: long, complex, fat, it's a superb organic gourmet wine.
