The Saint-Agnès cuvées from Ermitage du Pic Saint Loup possess the balance and elegance of the great Languedoc wines: they should be waited for 5 to 7 years to be enjoyed at their full potential.
Finally, the cuvée Guihem Gaucem is the great cuvée de garde of Ermitage du Pic Saint Loup. Forget about 15 years in the cellar.
The guidebooks say it best.
Guide RVF des Meilleurs Vins de France 2019 about Ermitage du Pic Saint Loup: 2 stars: "Through its consistency over several vintages, the Ravaille family confirms its place at the top of the hierarchy of Pic Saint-Loup producers. The estate has gone far in its cultural demands, particularly with regard to the selection of plant material. The fruit of these high standards is to be found in the wines, with their enhanced finesse of expression. Very fine work in the whites, with a fleshy style that preserves the freshness of the fruit. The reds, too, have a flesh that is both silky and very fresh; the perfume takes precedence over the substance, which is never heavy. The grand cuvée Guilhem Gaucelm, long aged in foudre, is one of today's most brilliant Languedoc expressions."
