AOC Beaujolais
Beaujolais is an often maligned AOC. Beaujolais nouveau has done a lot of good by introducing this wine region to the world, and a lot of harm because of the often mediocre wines offered at the festival.
Beaujolais wines are, however, tasty, gourmet and very enjoyable if the Gamay grape that makes them up is worked with the utmost care.
The Beaujolais terroir
The Beaujolais AOC covers 7,000 hectares, making it difficult to give a typical description of the Beaujolais terroir. The climate is close to continental. The wines produced are gamay-based, and over 95% of them are red.

Axiome du domaine Les Capréoles is a white Beaujolais made from Chardonnay grapes. After a long, gentle pressing, the wine was vinified in barrel with indigenous yeasts and aged on lees for 8 months. The 2025 Beaujolais is the entry-level and pleasure-oriented cuvée from Domaine Marcel Lapierre — "the free-spirited and joyful Gamay, which showcases natural wine in its most accessible form, while maintaining a high standard of quality."
Bright ruby color with violet highlights. Crisp nose of fresh cherry, raspberry, violet, and a light floral note. Light, juicy, and vibrant on the palate, with vibrant fruit, almost imperceptible tannins, and a fresh, mouth-watering finish. Serve at 14–15°C, slightly chilled.
100% organic Gamay Noir (AB Ecocert), plots on light granite soils in Villié-Morgon. Hand-harvested, meticulously sorted. Semi-carbonic maceration without SO2 or added yeast, using indigenous yeasts. Aged in tanks.

The cuvée Alio Pacto is the grand cuvée of the domaine les Capréoles. The grapes come from an old vineyard plot on a southwest-facing slope, situated on a vein of Lantignié microgranite. This plot was harvested for the first time in 2018 after several years ravaged by hail. On this plot, almost everything is done by hand. Only the best vintages will be bottled.
The wine is powerful with lots of rich fruit and very silky tannins. It will introduce you to another face of Beaujolais, produced in another way (alio pacto, in Latin), for another pleasure!
