Discover the wines of Patrimonio with the Domaine Giacometti and the domaine Santamaria.
The Appellation d'Origine Protégée (AOP) Patrimonio is a veritable wine treasure nestled on the island of beauty, Corsica. Famous for its excellent wines, Patrimonio embodies the very essence of Corsican viticulture, combining tradition, know-how and respect for the environment. With a unique terroir and rich winegrowing history, this PDO offers wines of exceptional quality, while pioneering the field of organic farming.
The terroir of the Patrimonio PDO is remarkably diverse, offering a unique combination of soils, climates and exposures that give the wines a singular identity. The clay-limestone slopes, schist soils and maritime influences create ideal conditions for the cultivation of emblematic grape varieties such as Niellucciu (or Sangiovese), Vermentinu (or Rolle) and Grenache. The vineyards, nestled between the mountains and the Mediterranean Sea, benefit from generous sunshine and refreshing sea breezes, allowing the grapes to ripen slowly and develop complex, subtle aromas.
At the heart of the region's vineyards are the vineyards of Niellucciu (or Sangiovese), Vermentinu (or Rolle) and Grenache.
With a view to preserving the environment and respecting living things, many winegrowers in the Patrimonio PDO have chosen to convert to organic farming. This demanding approach, based on respect for natural balances and the reduction of chemical inputs, helps preserve the biodiversity of soils and ecosystems, while guaranteeing the quality and authenticity of the products.
Patrimonio PDO organic winegrowers favor environmentally-friendly cultivation practices, such as biological pest and disease control, tillage and rational water management. By banning synthetic pesticides and chemical fertilizers, they contribute to the preservation of soil health and the promotion of sustainable, responsible viticulture.
Patrimonio PDO organic wines are distinguished by their purity and authenticity, reflecting the unique character of the terroir and the winemakers' passion for their craft. The reds, made from Niellucciu and Grenache, are characterized by their aromas of red fruits, spices and garrigue, while the whites, made from Vermentinu and Grenache, seduce with their notes of citrus, white flowers and exotic fruits.
