AOC Santenay

AOP Santenay is a French wine appellation located in Burgundy, about 30 kilometers south of Beaune. It is known for the production of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay wines. Santenay's soils are mainly composed of clay and limestone, giving the wines their distinct minerality and structure.

Santenay's climate is influenced by the Côte d'Or plateau, which protects the vineyards from the strongest winds and enables gentle ripening of the grapes. The region experiences four distinct seasons, with hot, dry summers and cool, wet winters.

Santenay vines are generally planted on south-facing slopes, maximizing their exposure to the sun. This helps to ripen the grapes evenly and produce wines with good intensity of color and flavor.

Santenay Pinot Noir wines are known for their elegance, finesse and complexity. They generally feature aromas of red fruit, cherry, raspberry and spice. The wines are medium-bodied and have good acidity, making them well suited to aging in oak barrels.

Chardonnay wines from Santenay are also very popular. They are generally full-bodied and have rich, buttery flavors. The wines often feature aromas of lemon, apple and pear.
