Domaine Romany

The Domaine ROMANY is a family-run wine estate located in the Beaujolais region and run using organic farming methods. Dating back to the early 20th century, this estate boasts an attractive heritage of old vines. The oldest current vine dates back to 1918, but most of the estate, under massal selection, was planted in the 1950s-1960s.

The vines are located in the communes of Bully, Sarcey and Saint Germain Nuelles, on south- and southeast-facing slopes at altitudes ranging from 270m to 420m. The soils are classified into several categories: granitic, volcanic (bluestone) for gamays in reds as well as clayey (golden stone) and volcanic (bluestone) for chardonnays in whites.

Vinification at the estate is low-interventionist: Considering that to make good wines the first principle is: "a healthy vine in a healthy soil": quality grapes, harvested at optimum ripeness, enable vinification with the minimum possible inputs. Aurélie and Fabien Romany accompany the fermentation process, monitoring the yeasts' behavior. The wines are aged on fine lees, which have a protective effect on the wine and allow us to do without SO2 until bottling.

Thanks to this treasure, Domaine Romany produces gourmet, intense organic wines.

The cuvée Le Moulin is a greedy, fruity Beaujolais. We crunch the grapes.

Aux Ecully is a cuvée with more substance and intensity, a fine value for money.
