Domaine de la Cotelleraie

Le domaine de la Cotelleraie in a few words....

The Domaine de la Cotelleraie covers almost two hectares of gravelly terraces and clay-limestone slopes. Planted with both Cabernets, the vineyard is worked with great care to obtain the finest grapes possible. Vinification is carried out to express the personality of the Saint-Nicolas terroirs. Gérald Vallée manages the estate and strives to bring out the terroir character and Cabernet Franc typicity of his vines.

.

The Domaine de la Cotelleraie is farmed organically since 1999, and has been certified since 2009. In 1957 (when Gérald's father started out), the estate consisted of 12 hectares of vines, as well as asparagus and fruit trees. Today, it comprises 27 hectares of vines. Gérald is the 1st generation not to be involved in mixed farming.

The Saint-Nicolas de Bourgueil wines from Domaine de la Cotelleraie are of a very high standard: the wines possess beautiful substance, lovely fruit and are capable of going through the years with ease. Ideal organic wines, easy to match.

Guide des meilleurs vins de France 2019: "Gérald Vallée leaves nothing to chance in his vinifications in wooden vats and barrel aging, giving birth to full-bodied, seductive Cabernet Francs set with smooth tannins that make them accessible from youth, but with good ageing potential. In a civilized register, the latest vintages have considerably gained in fruit brightness, bringing them closer to the fresh taste of their terroir."

Les cuvées du domaine de la Cotelleraie

La croisée is the estate's entry-level wine, but what an entry: beautiful substance and depth for a lovely wine to drink over 5 years.

Les Perruches has more power and longevity: this is a cuvée that needs a little aeration to express itself.

Vau Jaumier is one of the estate's great cuvées, built for laying down it possesses structure and complexity!
