Domaine Jean-Michel Gérin

Domaine Jean-Michel Gerin: an essential Côte-Rôtie reference

Domaine Jean-Michel Gerin has established itself today as one of the major players in the Côte-Rôtie appellation, in the heart of the northern Rhône Valley. Through a range of precise and demanding cuvées, the estate perfectly illustrates the richness and complexity of this unique terroir, where Syrah reaches one of its highest levels of expression.

An exceptional vineyard on the slopes of the Rhône

Installed on the steep hillsides overlooking the Rhône, the estate's vineyards benefit from remarkable natural conditions. The steep slopes, varied exposures and schist and mica schist soils all contribute to shaping wines of great intensity, marked by a mineral framework and characteristic depth.

This demanding implantation imposes rigorous manual work on the vines, but in return allows us to obtain grapes of optimal quality, concentrated and perfectly balanced.

An elegant, racy signature

The wines of Domaine Jean-Michel Gerin are distinguished by their ability to combine power and elegance, in a style that is both structured and refined. Syrah develops a complex aromatic palette, blending black fruits, spices, violet floral notes and smoky nuances typical of great Côte-Rôtie wines.

The balance is always well-balanced.

The balance is always sought, with present but fine tannins, and a freshness that ensures precision and length on the palate. Some cuvées incorporate a proportion of Viognier, in keeping with a historic tradition of the appellation, bringing an additional aromatic dimension and a silkier texture.

Demanding organic viticulture

The work in the vineyard is based on committed viticulture, conducted in organic farming, with constant attention paid to natural balances. Harvesting is carried out by hand, allowing for rigorous grape selection and fine adaptation to each plot.

This requirement guarantees a faithful expression of terroir and consistent quality from one vintage to the next.

Precise vinification and controlled ageing

In the cellar, vinifications are carried out with precision, limiting interventions to preserve the expression of the fruit. Aging, generally carried out in oak barrels, is perfectly integrated and accompanies the wine without dominating it.

They enable the wine to develop its full potential.

They refine the structure, add complexity and support the ageing potential of the cuvées. The domaine's style rests on this balance between intensity, finesse and legibility.

Gastronomy and ageing wines

The wines of Domaine Jean-Michel Gerin naturally find their place at the table. Their structure and aromatic richness make them ideal partners for red meats, lamb, game or even dishes in sauce.

Over time, they develop more evolved aromas of leather, spice and undergrowth, gaining in depth and refinement. Depending on the cuvée, the ageing potential can reach a decade or more.

If you're ready to drink, we'd love to hear from you.
