Domaine Giachino

The Domaine Giachino in a few words....

Le domaine Giachino was founded in 1988 and produces fine organic wines in Savoie. Working in organic agriculture since 2006, Domaine Giachino prides itself on presenting organic Savoie wines of the highest quality. The whites are airy, with devilishly precise aromas.

The wines are low in sulfur (very slightly at bottling). Domaine Giachino's prices are very reasonable. Taste them, you'll rediscover Savoie at its best!

We've been following Domaine Giachino for many years and are blown away by the estate's consistency and seriousness.

The Giachino estate recently took over Prieuré Saint Roch, one of the most prestigious estates in Savoie, whose Altesse, in particular, we appreciate for its great finesse.

The cuvées of Domaine Giachino

Monfarina is a very and mineral dry white wine, at home with raclette, but also seafood. It is made from jacquères and primitif.

The apremont from Domaine Giachino is fruity and slender, airy and gourmand: finesse and precision in the bottle.

Giac Bulle is a superb Jacquère-based Vin Mousseux de Savoie. A beautiful delicacy from Domaine Giachino with around 30g of residual sugars perfectly integrated to delight the taste buds.

Altesse is an elegant, fruity Roussette de Savoie: an elegant organic wine produced by domaine Giachino.

The Mondeuse from domaine Giachino is a superbly peppery organic wine. Fresh and spicy, it deserves a few years of cellaring to mellow and show its full potential.

Giac Pote is a blend of gamay and mondeuse, a tonic wine with notes of red fruit and pepper. Enjoy it with a fine plate of charcuterie!

Where is Domaine Giachino located?

The Domaine Giachino is located in the Isère department, in Chapareillan, north of Grenoble

Are all Savoy wines white?

Savoy wines are best known for their whites, particularly apremont, made from Jacquères, the best-known grape variety. But the red wines made from Mondeuse grapes are great discoveries, like Domaine Giachino's Black Giac!

What are the profiles of Savoy white wines?

Savoy white wines made from the primitif or jacquère grape variety are fairly bright, dry whites. Those made from Altesse (or roussette de Savoie) are fruitier yet still fresh.

Wine and food pairings for Savoy white wines?

In addition to traditional Savoyard dishes, it's interesting to try Savoy wines with grilled prawns or langoustines in carpaccio, for example.

What pairings do you recommend to go with mondeuse?

Mondeuse is a grape variety that produces wines that are both elegant and floral, with substance. Domaine Giachino's Mondeuse deserves 2-3 years of cellaring, to be enjoyed with black pudding, roast duck or, if older, leg of lamb.

Mondeuse is a grape variety that produces wines that are both elegant and floral, with plenty of substance.

What is the terroir of Domaine Giachino?

Many terroirs blend together at the domaine; clay-limestone scree for the Apremont, Mondeuse and Monfarina, the moraines of ancient Grésivaudan glaciers for the Altesse. Yields are low and the vines are old!

What are the winemaking principles at Domaine Giachino?

The idea is to stay as close as possible to the grapes: very little copper, very little sulfur (only at bottling), cold settling for the whites, no exogenous yeast and ageing on lees until bottling.

Domaine Giachino Savoie - Monfarina 2022

Monfarina is a magnificent Jacquères combined with a little primitif, full of pep, produced by domaine Giachino . Pale yellow in color, this organic Savoy wine seduces with the intensity of its aromas (floral and menthol scents, chlorophyll) and its tension. A wine to be recommended with cheese, of course, but also with seafood. Try it with gambas a la plancha, you'll be surprised!Close
