Château Le Tertre de Caussan
Chateau le Tertre de Caussan is a wine estate located in Blaignan, Gironde, France. It is located in the heart of the Médoc appellation, on clay-limestone soils. The estate was created in the 1930s and extended to the north of the village of Caussan from a mill located on a hill, a tertre: Le Tertre de Caussan.
Chateau le Tertre de Caussan has been in organic conversion since 2021; the estate aims to produce wines as close to the grape as possible.
The estate produces several wines:
Château le Tertre de Caussan, a red wine blend composed of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Merlot. It's supple and fruity but with a lovely backbone.
Sous le Platane, a supple, fruity red wine that can be drunk slightly chilled
L'Escoupit, a more structured red Médoc aged in oak barrels. It will keep for 5-7 years with no worries.

Chateau Le Tertre de Caussan's L'escoupit cuvée is made from a plot-by-plot selection of the estate's finest grapes. The wine is aged for over 12 months in barrels. It develops complex notes of black fruit and spices, while remaining beautifully fresh.
