Domaine Richeaume

The Domaine Richeaume is a true gem of organic viticulture nestled at the foot of the Sainte-Victoire mountain, in the enchanting setting of Provence. Founded in the 1970s, this estate is today one of the pioneers of organic wines in Provence, producing cuvées that wonderfully combine respect for terroir, biodiversity and the authentic expression of Provençal grape varieties.

The Domaine Richeaume covers 65 hectares, including 25 hectares of vineyards, and is entirely dedicated to organic and biodynamic viticulture. Each cuvée embodies a commitment to the land and know-how handed down from generation to generation. The estate's wines are distinguished by their depth, elegance and ability to reveal the full richness of the Provencal terroir.

Domaine Richeaume was founded in 1972 by Henning Hoesch, a German academic with a passion for viticulture and organic farming. Located near Puyloubier, in the foothills of Mont Sainte-Victoire, this estate was quick to adopt environmentally-friendly practices, long before the organic wine trend became popular.

The warm, dry summers, combined with the estate's clay-limestone soils, enable optimal ripening of the region's emblematic grape varieties, such as Grenache, Syrah, Carignan, as well as international varieties like Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. Under the direction of Sylvain Hoesch, son of the founder, Domaine Richeaume has pursued its quest for excellence by strengthening its commitment to biodynamics and improving its natural winemaking methods. Today, the estate is renowned for its organic wines, which combine Provençal tradition and innovation, while offering powerful, elegant cuvées.

The Domaine Richeaume has established itself as a pioneer of organic viticulture in Provence. The Domaine Richeaume offers a varied range of organic wines that reflect both the unique character of Provence and the expertise of the Hoesch family. Among these cuvées, four stand out in particular: the Cuvée Tradition, the Cuvée Columelle, the Cuvée R, and the Rosé.

The Cuvée Tradition rouge is an organic red wine made from the typical grape varieties of Provence, notably Grenache and Syrah, with a touch of Carignan. This wine reveals intense aromas of ripe black fruit, such as blackberry and blackcurrant, accompanied by subtle notes of spice and garrigue. On the palate, it is both powerful and elegant, with well-integrated tannins and long-lasting aromas. Cuvée Tradition is ideal with grilled meats, dishes in sauce or mature cheeses.

The Cuvée Tradition Blanc is a magnificent expression of Provencal white grape varieties, composed mainly of Rolle (Vermentino) and Roussanne. This organic white wine is distinguished by its freshness and minerality. On tasting, it reveals aromas of white-fleshed fruits such as peach and pear, combined with floral notes and a hint of honey. On the palate, Cuvée Tradition Blanc offers roundness and balanced acidity, with an elegant finish. It's an excellent white wine to accompany grilled fish, seafood or Mediterranean dishes.

The Cuvée Columelle rouge is one of the estate's flagship cuvées, an exceptional wine produced from the finest Syrah, Grenache and Cabernet Sauvignon grapes. This organic wine stands out for its aromatic depth and complexity. On tasting, it offers aromas of candied black fruits, leather and sweet spices, with an elegant tannic structure and a long, spicy finish. This ageing wine can accompany refined dishes such as game or meats in sauce.

The Columelle Blanc is a rare and precious cuvée, produced from old Rolle and Roussanne vines. This organic white wine is distinguished by its richness and aromatic complexity. On tasting, it reveals aromas of white flowers and citrus, with subtle notes of exotic fruit and honey. On the palate, Columelle Blanc is full-bodied, with fine minerality, a silky texture and a long finish. This is an exceptional white wine, perfect for accompanying noble fish, shellfish or gourmet dishes in sauce.
