Located in Wintzenheim, a winegrowing town near Colmar, the Josmeyer estate benefits from an exceptional microclimate and one of the lowest rainfall rates in France. With a surface area of 28 hectares (28% riesling, 24% pinot blanc & auxerrois, 21% pinot gris, 19% gewurztraminer and 10% for sylvaner, muscat & pinot noir), this vineyard has always been run in a reasoned manner and with respect for nature.
At the end of the 90s, with a view to excellence, and under the impetus of Christophe Ehrhart, the Josmeyer estate was rapidly converted to organic and biodynamic farming. Since 2004, all wines have been certified with the AB (agriculture biologique) logo.
This alternative "path", more demanding and more costly than conventional or integrated viticulture, enables a better symbiosis between heaven, earth, plant and man. This close relationship between these four elements produces a noble grape which, in turn, will give rise to a dense, balanced wine with a unique personality.
