Admirable ageing, remaining very close to the grape, creates crisp, smooth tannins. The Mas Jullien is the estate that has shown the way to renewal for Languedoc winemakers. The work in the vineyard is extremely meticulous, and the vinifications are top-notch. All the cuvées from Mas Jullien are highly recommendable, as Olivier Jullien is one of France's most talented winemakers. The wines are digestible, elegant and complex. Le Roucas, a red cuvée from the domaine Hauvette, features 60% Grenache. More accessible in youth than the estate's other red cuvées, Roucas develops on notes of thyme, mint and cherries.
