The Chasselay estate in a nutshell....
The domaine de Chasselay is located 25 km northwest of Lyon, in the Azergues valley, known as "la Route Buissonière". The Chasselay family has lived here for over 6 centuries in the commune of Châtillon d'Azergues.
Jean-Gilles and Fabien work the vines, vinify and mature the wines. It's the wisdom and knowledge of a father combined with the modernity and drive of his children that today give the wines from the domaine de Chasselay their distinctive character. The wines are made using methods that guarantee respect for the environment, as the estate is certified organic. The prices are very reasonable and the quality is very high. Great bargains!
The guidebooks say it even better than we do!
Guide des meilleurs vins de France 2019:" The Chasselays have lived on the Éparcieux plot in the golden village of Châtillon d'Azergues since 1418. At the head of the estate since 2008 is a complementary duo: Claire and her younger brother Fabien. Their father Jean-Gilles, a leading figure in Beaujolais, passed on his values of hard work and sharing. The domaine, certified organic since 2006, works its terroirs with great respect for biodiversity. In the cellar, no yeast, no sulfite (but a little at bottling). Destemming is adapted to the vintage and each wine. Digestible and straightforward, their wines banish boredom and bring friends together."
