A few words about Domaine des Roches Neuves

Born in the family vineyards of Bordeaux, Thierry Germain took over the Domaine des Roches Neuves in 1993. The 22-hectare estate is farmed biodynamically to allow full expression of Cabernet Franc, the appellation's only grape variety.

Thierry wants to move away from current standards that tend to produce formatted wines. He campaigns for the diversity of terroirs, crafting some of the Loire's finest reds at Domaine des Roches Neuves. Thierry Germain seeks to produce great Cabernets to create great wines, fresh, slender, fine and lively. Domaine des Roches Neuves is a Loire benchmark!

The Domaine des Roches Neuves produces several organic wines:

Insolite is a great Loire white made from Chenin, all tension and minerality.

The estate's red Saumur is an accessible wine when young. Fruity, greedy, it's best drunk over 3-4 years.

Terre Chaudes deserves more time for the tannins to melt and the full complexity of the aromas to develop.

Enfin Marginale is the grand cuvée of Domaine des Roches Neuves . 10 years of cellaring will do it the world of good to give this bottle all its exceptional potential: one of the finest red wines of the Loire.

Guide des meilleurs vins de France 2020 about Domaine des Roches Neuves: "The charismatic Thierry Germain has defined a contemporary stylistic approach to saumur-champigny, which articulates the right ripeness of the cabernets and their ageing in wood in different containers, while perpetuating an infused, floral and crisp Loire fruitiness. The enormous amount of work undertaken in the vines (biodynamic, some ploughed with a horse) is illustrated by the estate's simple cuvée, all pure, digestible fruit. The range is now irreproachable, from the admirable Franc de Pied to the seductive La Marginale, now perfectly matured. Following the same path, the Chenin Blanc has built up a distinct identity, with its refined maturity, tension and firmness, well translated in the Cuvée Insolite.
