Le Clos du Caillou

Le Clos du Caillou in a few words...

The Clos du Caillou vineyard covers 9 hectares of vines in the Châteauneuf-du-Pape appellation and 44 hectares in the Côtes-du-Rhône appellation, with the particularity of being located on the edge of the Châteauneuf-du-Pape appellation. Cultivation practices at Clos du Caillou were initiated by Claude Pouizin in early 1950, with regular ploughing and the use of organic compost. Since then, the Clos du Caillou has practiced healthy agriculture. That's why Jean-Denis Vacheron initiated the practice of organic farming, with certification officialized for the 2010 vintage. In the same spirit, Clos du Caillou committed to biodynamic farming in 2007. This practice enables us to produce quality food by increasing the richness of the soil.

We particularly appreciate the wines of Clos du Caillou for the greediness and freshness of the cuvées. The wines are of a rare elegance in all cuvées. The quality/price ratios will finish convincing you.

The cuvée Les Safres du Clos du Caillou is a Chateauneuf du pape cuvée full of finesse and silkiness. The mouthfeel is remarkable. This cuvée is characterized by sweet spices.

The Bouquet de Garrigue range from Clos du Caillou is a range of Côtes du Rhone with beautiful personality. The white is deep, complex and balanced. The red is a Côte du Rhone of excellent level, powerful and fruity.

The quartz cuvée in Côtes du Rhone is a particularly high-quality parcel: it deserves to be kept for a few years.

The Clos du Caillou reserve cuvées, whether in Chateauneuf du Pape or Côte du Rhone, are superb: they represent the very best the estate has to offer. Chateauneuf-du-Pape collects top marks in the most renowned guides.

The Guides speak even better than we do, so here are a few extracts.

Guide Bettane et dessauve 2019, about Clos du Caillou: "The Côtes-du-Rhône reach a very high level of expression, with skilfully elevated and long materials. As for the Châteauneuf-du-pape, they have joined the very select circle of the appellation's finest wines, and are declined according to their nature and terroir..."
