Fer de lance de l'appellation, il produit des vins très éloignés de l'image que l'on peut avoir de la région : les tanins sont fondus, le fruit net et gourmand et les vins travaillés pour passer les ans tout en gagnant en majesté. Le domaine Arretxea fait partie des très grands du Sud-Ouest ! La production est limitée, certaines cuvées sont donc rares et leur disponibilité n'est pas assurée toute l'année.
